Tim Holtz Christmas Colorize Dies Series Post 3 | Handmade Christmas Cards using Harvey & Yuletide Wreath Dies

Homemade Christmas card featuring bells, bows, and a layered wreath created with the Tim Holtz Yuletide Wreath Colorize dies by Sizzix.

Bells, bows, and wreaths come together in these homemade Christmas cards using the Tim Holtz Yuletide Wreath Colorize dies by Sizzix.

Behind the Featured Card and More

Bells, bows, and wreaths feature throughout these homemade Christmas cards, created using the Tim Holtz Yuletide Wreath Colorize dies by Sizzix. Can you see in the featured card how I used little bells as the ornaments on the wreath: it made the card jingle.

For the first card, I went for the distressed look — ripping the edges and heavy inking. When my daughter asked why the card was ripped, I realised 'shabby' might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so I decided the next one would be clean and neat instead… 😂

That said, I still find myself drawn to the distressed version, as I obviously do like 'shabby'.

These cards are part of a series, the links to all the related cards are at the bottom of this post. I would love you to have a look.

I loved using the Tim Holtz Harvey and Yuletide Wreath dies to create this fun Christmas card, with the sweet soldier nestled into the wreath and finished with bows and bells.

Doesn’t Harvey, created with the Tim Holtz Colorize die, look great in green, resting on a Yuletide Wreath by Tim Holtz and set against a striking blue background. More details on these cards and more, are shared below.

Behind the Featured Cards and More

These three little guys are my favourites of my 'Christmas Harvey Collection'. I absolutely love the Yuletide Wreath Colorize die by Tim Holtz for Sizzix — it creates a beautifully detailed and visually pleasing backdrop for Harvey on each handmade Christmas card. One detail I’m especially drawn to is the bell in the top right-hand corner of the second card. It’s layered with a gorgeous white bow from The Greetery’s Fit to Be Tied die set, adding an elegant finishing touch and a lovely sense of balance to the design.

I also really love the contrast of green Harvey against the rich royal blue cardstock. That particular shade of blue is my all-time favourite — and, frustratingly, I can’t for the life of me remember which company it came from. I have plenty of cardstock that’s almost that colour… but never quite that one. One day… maybe 😉

Behind the Featured Card and More

Sorry for the long drought! I’ve been busy over the past few months making Christmas cards, and now that they’re finally finished and posted, it’s time to start sharing them here again. When Tim Holtz and Sizzix released Harvey in 2024, I couldn’t wait to bring this little guy to life....shame it has taken me two years. The Tim Holtz Yuletide Wreath is absolutely gorgeous, but it can be quite fiddly to assemble. My first few attempts didn’t line up properly and were headed for the bin—until I realised they would make the perfect background for Harvey.

The centre wreath was one where everything aligned perfectly, so this one (and its partner, coming up soon!) was left uncovered. It was adorned with gems and finished with the beautiful bell and bow that come with the set.

The bows on the cards with the soldier were cut using a very simple, inexpensive die I’d previously overlooked because of its plainness. In the end, that large, no-frills bow provided a lovely, steadying influence anchored in the corner. I couldn’t help myself and layered one bow on top of the other, adding Christmas berries in the centre. The berries and candy canes were inexpensive Temu finds, and I was thrilled with how they turned out. To finish them with Distress Grit Paste Snowfall to the plastic leaves for a hint of snow.

The gold lattice background comes from the top layer of the Tim Holtz Layered Plaid die and I felt it looked very regal over the rich red cardstock.
