Art Journalling Classes with Dina Wakley

Dear Bloggers,
My friend Robyn and I spent an amazing 6 hours with Dina Wakley last Sunday.  Dina was teaching an 'Art Journalling' class at Pages 2 Scrap and it was brilliant.  I really enjoyed Dina's teaching style and could not recommend her classes more highly.  We created 5 pages and made them into a book - all in one class...Wow.  We used copious amounts of gorgeous vibrant dylusions inks and splashed paint and gesso everywhere.  If you look at the photo below of Dina and myself you will see I have paint on my nose and splashed onto my chest (and all over my black jeans).

At the end of the day I looked zonked out while Dina looked as fresh as a daisy.

One of the pages became the cover for our book.

Tiff's Hospitality Dinner with some Websters papers, Scrapmatts and others.

Dear Bloggers,
Here is a page capturing the memories of the night my daughter Tiff and her Year 12 Hospitality cohort cooked an amazing dinner for the parents.  It was a very special night enjoyed by all.

The menus on the table were on black card edged with a punched boarder.  This worked in well with the LO and pulls out as special memorabilia.

My Way or the Highway - Cards by Glitz Cashmere Dame Range

Dear Bloggers,
The Cashmere Dame Range by Glitz Designs is just so gorgeous.  I love the colours, patterns and the poster art images of stylish girls being very high maintenance are lots of fun.
Here are a few quick cards I created using the papers and super cool accessories..

Windows in the Sky - Canvas using doll house window boxes

Dear Bloggers,
I had some doll house windows in my stash that I purchased sometime ago.  I wanted to add them to my canvas to add extra depth and dimension.  I was very pleased with the results but I fear the photo of the final project lets it down.  This is especially so because of the photos that are under perspex in the windows.  Several attempts at photographing it have not yielded any better results so here it is anyway..

The side on view shows the wonderful depth that the doll house windows create.

Take 2 on Amy The Bridesmaid Layout

Dear Bloggers,
I was just looking at the LO I created showing my daughter Amy being Bridesmaid for her good friend Sarah.  It just looked a little unfinished so I changed it from http://www.jennygarlick.com/2013/04/scrapmatts-chipboard-special-treatment.html

The Journal Cover I Created at Finnabair's Class

Dear Bloggers,
The second of Finnabair's classes that I attended was creating the front and back covers for her gorgeous journal produced by Prima.  It was so much fun using the divine metals in her Mechanicals Range.

Attending Finnabair's Classes and Her Gorgeous work

Dear Bloggers,
Wow it is finally the end of term and time for a little catching up.  Term 1 was good but gee it was soooooooo busy so I have loved sleeping in the last couple of mornings and even having some naps in the afternoon.  They are sooooo therapeutic.
Now it is time to put the finishing touches to the work I created in Finnabair's Classes and download the photos of the day that have been sitting on my camera for far too long.   Drum roll - finally here they are.

A photo of the lovely Anna and myself just to prove that I really was with her and the messy aprons indicate work in progress.

Anna teaching us how to create an amazing Steam Punk Layout.

Below are 5 of Finnabair's stunning Steam-Punk Layouts using her gorgeous new Mechanicals by Prima. Anna had these on display during her classes.

Oh I just love love love her style.

Finnabair's Class - and what I dabbled in at home afterwards!!

Dear Bloggers,
I was one of the lucky people who attended 2 of Finnabair's classes at Catchy Crafts last month.
It was an amazing day and I was thrilled to learn so much from such a truly talented lady.  Catchy Crafts was  a brilliant venue and the wonderful staff helped to make the day even better.  Afterwards I had a little dabble with creating my own journal cover on the front page of one of my Mixed Media Books.  I used some of the left over goodies from her generous kit and some of my own.

Sew Happy Tag Using Scrapmatts

Dear Bloggers,
The Scrapmatts' challenge for March is also to produce a tag.
In a previous post  http://www.jennygarlick.com/2013/03/this-chipboard-is-just-sew-nice.html

I created 4 tags using Scrapmatts gorgeous new range of Sewing chipboard.
The set was just begging for a fifth member but this time on the Scrapmatts ATC shaped as sewing spool.

Scrapmatts Chipboard Special Treatment and Amy being a Bridesmaid.

Dear Bloggers,
One of the Scrapmatts Challenges for this month was to alter chipboard.
My daughter Amy was very recently bridesmaid for her close friend Sarah. I took a photo of my daughter walking down the aisle and I knew that the Scrapmatts Federation Detail frame would be just perfect to showcase my treasured snap.  I painted, sewed and attached pearls to the frame. I heat embossed some of the chipboard flowers with pink embossing powder and then I sprinkle white over the top to soften the effect.  I white embossed the cute little Scrapmatts birds and spray misted and painted the leaves.  From then on the rest of the LO came together very quickly and yes the new Scrapmatts words finished it off very nicely.
