Three Times the Festive Fun: Tim Holtz Colorize Harvey Trio Christmas Cards Part 1

Dear Bloggers,

Last Christmas I became completely carried away making little soldiers with the Tim Holtz Colorize Harvey die set. As regular readers may recall, I made so many Harveys that I eventually ran out of time to turn them all into finished cards.

Only my favourite designs were completed and given away, while the remaining pieces were put aside. When I recently began making my Christmas cards for 2026, I rediscovered those partly assembled cards and decided to pull them apart. Overwhelmed I tossed them into the bin, telling myself I didn't have to complete every card I started.

Then the next day I found myself rescuing pieces from the bin!

Once I saw just how many little soldiers I still had, I decided that using only one Harvey on each card was never going to solve the problem. The obvious answer was to use three—and so the Harvey Trio series was born.

These cards feature groups of three colourful toy soldiers, each with its own combination of patterned clothing, metallic details and festive embellishments. Bringing three Harveys together created such a cheerful, busy design and gave me plenty of opportunities to use some of the beautiful supplies hidden away in my craft room.

I embellished the cards with layered bows, tiny bells, Christmas charms, black pearls, flowers with candy-like centres, assorted colours and sizes of rhinestones, white paint, imitation snow, patterned papers and lots of shimmering gold cardstock.

No two cards are exactly the same, but they all have the same wonderfully festive personality. These little Harvey trios are bright, detailed and full of Christmas sparkle.

And most importantly, all those abandoned Harveys have finally found a home!

See Part 2 in this series.

As you know I  ended up making LOTS of Christmas cards featuring 'Harvey'.
