Honk, Honk, Hooray! | Concord & 9th Silly Goose Cards Post 2 of 6

Handmade celebration cards featuring a honking goose stamp decorated with party hats, flowers and hearts in mustard yellow, dusty blue and sage green.
A cheerful honking goose created with the Silly Goose stamp set by Concord & 9th, decorated with party hats, flowers and hearts in mustard yellow.

Dear Bloggers,

This gorgeous little goose was clearly in the mood to celebrate! I especially love the stamp showing the little honk coming from its beak, as it gives the design so much personality and makes the whole card feel playful and full of fun.

For these handmade celebration cards, I used the Concord & 9th Silly Goose dies and coordinating acrylic stamp set. The goose is such a fun focal point, and I had a lovely time adding tiny party hats, flowers and hearts to create a cheerful series of card designs.

I also enjoyed working with a soft, muted vintage colour palette of mustard yellow, dusty blue and sage green. These colours coordinate beautifully and give the cards a warm, slightly nostalgic feel without being too bright.

By changing the placement of the party hats, flowers and hearts, each card has its own character while still belonging to the same coordinating set.

These cards are just one part of my six-post Silly Goose series, with lots more playful card designs to see. Thanks so much for calling by, and be sure to have a look through the other posts in the series for more Concord & 9th Silly Goose inspiration.

“Bottoms Up! A Silly Goose Cardmaking Series.” Post 1 of 6

Handmade Bottoms Up celebration cards featuring geese in gumboots, created with the Concord & 9th Silly Goose Stamp and Die Set.
Bottoms up! These playful celebration cards were created with the Concord & 9th Silly Goose Stamp and Die Set. I loved this design so much that these cheeky geese went straight into mass production.

Dear Bloggers,

I was immediately drawn to the Silly Goose Stamp and Die Set by Concord & 9th. A goose wearing gumboots is simply too cute! I especially loved the “Bottoms Up, Time to Celebrate” sample on the Concord & 9th website (see the picture below).

I rarely repeat card designs, but these little geese were so much fun that I went into mass production. I used Spellbinders Portobello Cardstock, which is a beautiful, kraft coloured cardstock, along with one colourful version simply because I loved the shade.

These cards are much cleaner and simpler than my usual style. The precise measuring, centring and placement were surprisingly challenging, and although I tried not to add extra layers, I eventually gave in and added a white mat behind some of the designs. I actually prefer them that way, as the white border gives the cards a little more definition while keeping the overall look fresh and simple.

Do you like the matting, or plain?  Portobello or Cherry?  Please let me know

These cards are only one part of my Silly Goose card series. Be sure to explore the rest of my blog to see more cards created with this wonderfully playful Concord & 9th stamp and die set.

Thanks so much for calling by.
